SAMOA

Postby LGREANZ » Tue Feb 27, 2007 2:02 pm

been wanting to get to Samoa for years now and finally puting the wheels in motion to make it happen.

gonna meet a buddy down there and stay in the resort to get our feet wet, then explore for a week.

anyone been down there before got any tips ???
anyone like go ?

theres been lots of activity down that region all winter, so hopefully the 1st 2 weeks of june will be getting some swell.

from caldwell

Code: Select all

Into the long range, storminess SE of New Zealand continues stronger than normal for the season. A storm over the past 24 hours has been aiming 35-45 knot winds at targets just east of the islands over a broad fetch. Similar episodes could unfold through this week, leading to above average surf locally all next week, yet still small with occasional moderate sets, from 180-200 degrees.

Friend went down two years back an had some scores. Not as great as he had hoped, but pristine waters.

Nothing, but nothing happens on Sundays.

Damn you wave hunter, you!

Good hunts!

ive heard stories of it really going off.
kinda in the same swell window as hawaii/tahiti summer swells
but get more of a direct hit, unlike here 3000 miles away were it misses most of the time.
its all gnarly reef passes like tahiti, but cheaper, and thier religion is christianity.

the world is too crazy these days for me to want to go back to indonesia.

I'm going to Tonga and New Zealand at the end of the month. Hopefully this early south swell trend continues.

LG, you going west samoa? check out this link, http://www.lineup.com.au/maninoa/camp.php. If you stay at their camp you can surf on sundays. Couple friends went last year and scored good waves. People from other camps were bumming because the good conditions and waves was located in their area.

Lgreanz, I was just there in October. Killer timez. I posted some vid and pics from our trip. The guy we were with couldn't get much 'steady' footage from the channel but he did a good job with editing.

Most days were fun size but no serious swell. We had one day at the island (not in vid or pics below) that was insane. You have to hook up a boat ride to the island!!!! Most spots will be only your crew, except boulders.
You can surf it on Sundays. L^]

Let me know if there's anything specific you have questions about.
