2010 - 7 Surf Check July

last Friday 10-1230 at my dss again. pretty damn weak and small, but still surfable. 3-4 others, including Martial, who was killing as usual & making it look easy. On the way out I ran into Goro on the trail - long time no see.

This morning 10am, board ready so I goes up to catch some surfy time,,,, watched for 30 minutes... really really wanted to surf, tried to convince myself that it was better than it looked, watching watching allllmost went out but just couldn;t do it. "sets" were maybe stomach high, and those were infrequent.

Hey thanks Bud and Joe . . . my arms are always a-flailin' fer sure

Actually we are heading back to the midwest via Oahu for a few days. Plan is to be near to the in-laws again . . . bummed about the lack of surf, but stoked to be near family, low cost of living, new adventure, etc. Who knows, maybe I'll score some fun days on Lake Superior again - the one time I went before there were some pretty incredible left point set ups . . . just need swell and super wetsuit.

Hope all are well, maybe we'll see you in the water during one of our visits home (Hawaii will always be home for me, after all).

dss from 5:45 til dark. Overhead and fun! Finally got to try out the 6'9 and am loving the rocker....stoked for tomorrow for sure!

I woke briefly from my summer slumber and paddled out at HB's, 9 to 10:30. No one out when I got there but before I got my first wave I was joined by a couple, who sat off to one side. I sat outside and waited for the bigger ones which were breaking all over and mostly closing out. I had 3 barrels, two of which I should of made it out of but I didn't. The last half hour the couple was replaced by 3 SBers who sat straight inside of me catching waves as I waited on the outside feeling like a fool since it stopped breaking out there. I finally got a really nice on to go in on, almost worth the wait.

1030-1230 totally sucked. well overhead peaks, but no walls, no form whatsoever, and wind like a hurricane. windsurfers were lovin it. i shoulda stayed at work

12:30 - 2pm 1st hole with my friend from work, a local at the spot. Waist - chest occ head high rights, pretty decent, caught about 10 waves...havent surf in a while was feeling a little rusty< definetly had fun though!
