searched out west yesterday (03/02/10) with the straight north angle. thought it was going to be bigger, but a lot of spots were too small. 3rds was crap, downside was flat, so we checked a spot in between and got it pretty damn good with not one person out all session. gotta love these winds...

pastures was pretty damn fun today!!! Pretty long wall from the outside, that would double up on the middle peak, and run all the way to the inside.

So windy this morn, I figured there was no way it's gonna have anything. Went for a look around 11 and was stoked to see some head high stuff out there. The wind was absolutely raging, and some killer waves were coming in...or....so it seemed. No one else out, geeiwonderwhy, and on the paddle I'm watching these perfect wedges, barrels all over the place..I'm gleefully chortling, and then I couldn't find a wave. Perfect over there...perfect in there...perfect out there. CRIMMENY! Meanwhile the wind is just howling, blowing water into my eyes at least 3 times a second. I scratched into a few, but just dumb luck I was in position. So much work for a couple head highs.
Can't wait for tomorrow.

Checked out the Waimea Bay Shorebreak Slam early in the morning. Heard they were waiting till 10. So I headed to "Pastures" and caught some marginal waves on the sponge.







Felt some overhead pulses while riding "H's" so I hightailed it back to Waimea to find... flatness. Helped setting up the heats (using some old skills from my amateur surf contest days), then jumped in.

Tiny and crumbly. The competitors didn't complain too much, but it really sucked. Had to leave before noon. Heard it got progressively better. Here are some pics. Nice to see you guys Craig and Matt.

Yeah Neo definitely got better. By the end of the day it was solid 3' and a lot of em started opening up a bit. My first time ever body surfing the bay (much less with a rubbah slippah). Just went out and caught my 10 waves so hopefully I'll advance for next weekend.

Jake, Not sure if they changed it, but when I was helping set up heats, they were planning on this being a one-day event. The scores of all the heats in a particular division was aggregated and that is how they were going to determine a winner.

Yeah they didn't get to run the handboard div so the word is now they are gonna see if next weekend get waves and if not then refund the entry fees for handboards and add up points for everybody else. Scores will be posted by wed on dahui.com. I'm just feeling super lucky cause I got there too late to sign up for the regular heats but 4 spots opened up for rubbah slippah and I jumped in line just in time.

I think I watched your heat red while i was bouldering on the beach. Didn't look that good, but hey all in fun. I thought I was gonna get heckled by the "Happy Hawaiian" for rock climbing, luckily he didn't notice me
