The down side I've found with them is in weaker surf. There is definitely not as much to push against when you're down speed and trying to thrust out of the hole. But, in waves with power, I have found them to work with noticable improvement.
Hey that must be you Tom?
Thanks again for letting me test the latest in fin tech! The 'quirk' I've noticed is hard to pin down to the new fins or not ... all the diff factors at play, brand new board plus less than optimum surf & conditions lately. What I have noticed is not necessarily a bad thing - seems like if true, should be happy about and able to tune my benefit - but definitely something that I'm not used to. It's almost like an extra "squirt" of speed out of turns. So far I can easily move the board the way I like, the difference I notice is coming out of turns (or even pumping down the line) I notice the board seems to want to go back into a fast straight line immediately after pressure released from a turn. Kinda like stepping onto a piece of ice on the ground after taking a step. Does that make sense?
Anyways if what I'm sensing is happening, I hope I can harness this newfound energy in a way to benefit all mankind in the prusuit of life liberty and justice, Batman !!
Looking forwardt to see what kind of difference with the 'regular' fins in place.
