0815-1030 Lanis, still damp from this mornings session. turned out it was quite a bit bigger than I mentioned on the phone report to LG. 1.5xOH to 2.5xOH plus. all by meself way the fuck outside Holtons. Mixed up and sectiony, but clearly strong north component. Just enough west to shut it down across the middle. Early was glassy and fun, 3 people out before me got cleaned out by a biggie that shut down all the way across Holtons to the rip between lanis and Himmas. I lucked out was still in the channel watching. They went in, it was pretty sketchy, lotsa people watching on shore . Little later i nailed a nugget, rode it till my legs almost gave out. On the paddle back out I shouted howzit to Kolohe Bloomfield who was tagging the rights on the inside off the rip. Bunch of stoker rides but barely squeaking by bottom turns, solid DOHplus, shoulda brought my 7'0' as I was a bit undergunned on my 6'1"

As morning went on, it became inconsistent but when the sets did come they kept gettting bigger... plus the surface got choppier and closing out more. Last 30 minutes i caught squat, and eventually got cleaned up by a macker, pushed way in. Sat near the end for while, finally snagged a sweet one, a rare one that i worked almost to shore (low tide) only had to paddle about 25 feet to the sand. kinda scary out there woulda been less stressfull with someone else out there too. but still a very satisfying session.

sounds like you had a fun experience out there today.
I called in sick to the ocean today, just not feeling the drive and search for medicore waves. I'm getting way too spoiled.
I thought today was gonna be the day till i heard the report on
596-surf "10 feet and stormy". I gotta remember No Expectations !
BB 808 how'd your sesh turn out ?

Oh Bud thanks for the report, appreciate it man.

..............well probably had the worst session of the winter for me! Like Bud, I ended up at Lanis and got coaxed out by a few long unridin waves. Was quite a bit bigger than I could tell from shore cauz only one guy out. As soon as I got by the rip an 8ft+ clean up set came through and from then on I was a little spooked. Definately northerthy direction but mixed. Real hard to get into the waves and that really sucked for me. After a half hour of not catchin a wave I stroked my ass off for this one and missed it. Turned around and yep, "bombs away on the slap"! F**king hating it! Glad it wasn't bigger though. After taking 3 on the slap-o-noggin I was gettin sucked over to Holtons. Finally made it in just cursin myself for getting wet and being a bitch! Whatever........always tommorrow.

..............some spots on the eastside looked good though!

Sigh. Liam, you've convinced me. I'm out there, small balls and all. Now, what to ride, what to ride? It's between my old Brewer gun and the sponge.

The Pipe cam doesn't look so hot for the Backdoor Shootout right now. Hope L's is cleaner. See you out there. Buddy, you on?

Went by for a peek on the way home from work last night, and there were some fun lookin' 2-3 ft. faced rollers comin' in. I was stoked to be goin' in the morn, but alas...this morning's early light brought only flatness and sadness.

L's, 8-11, sunny, light offshores, mostly north swell with a west jumbling it up a little, mostly 5' with some bigger ones early on. Took a few on the head. Saw LGREANZ in the parking lot afterwards.

Surfed my secret little right in Kahuku solo 1:00 - 2:20. Head high to a foot overhead and draining like crazy. Got a handful of really fun waves including one long barrel. Then it went all arse. Saw Slap checking it as I was showering. Directed him to other options. Glassing my new Bushman 7-8, and getting a new 7-2 Pyzel next week, too. I love getting new boards.

Neal, I knew those shots were coming. Looks like those middle two shots are a wee bit bigger then 5', I think everyone always under calls Lani's. I hate missing a good swell but I'm still a bit sick. Feeling much better but I have no voice and I figured I'd need it for Lani's. Wife starts her new job Monday so I should be getting more water time.
