the surf is going to be pumping on this day.
we should get together and have a little paddle out for him.
nothing fancy just a bunch of the boys going out for a surf.
bowls was his spot and it will probably be barreling.

thanks Hmark, I appreciate the kind words. It's easy speaking the truth...

Hey bud, I spoke with Stickman and he's forgot his password to the BB. Wondering if you can email the password to him, I have his email if you need. Thanks :)

Just saw this thread. I'm bummed. He obviously had his demons (as we all do), but you could tell his passion for surfing was absolute. RIP brother.

It's sad when anyone passes so early in life. Solo seemed to have been delt a paticularly rough hand. I'm sure that he has gone on to a better break

sorry bud,

going through a bad time right now.

divorcing after 30 years.

i think it would be a good idea to ban me, again. i just rant and rave, and piss people off. i don't know wy i do it. maybe i'm just a punk.

but please, shut me down? okay?

right on. see you in the water. getting back into it, no mo' family already. plus, i live at the top of the barros lane, right across from chambers. if you see me, say hello.

you know i ain't the same guy as i am on this bb. i guess writing brings out the worst in me.

Any mans demise seems to diminish our own in some way, but the spirit is what he left behind, meaning that one sentence where solo stated "you know i aint the same guy on this bb"... we all carry some sort of demon, it is sad that the demons consumed solo.

I hope it is perfect, off shore, glassy, and no one out but him...

i'm not a religious person, maybe at times anti-, and i never knew solo, but i find myself now on the walk down dh often saying a prayer for solo...wishing him peace under a blue sky and warm ocean...
all this remembrance stuff...seems like sort of a waste...
i want to celebrate life...not death...
is there something from this sad event that we can take and learn so it doesn't get repeated? i know bud and plenty guys tried to reach out...
but could we have done more or do something that right now we don't know how to do? like get him to counseling or something...
or at least know the signs when someone has reached bottom and needs a hand up...i hope i get a helping hand up when i reach the bottom...
peace...
