SOLO - RIP

Postby Bud » Wed Jul 26, 2006 3:37 pm

Just got word that Clyde ("solo") passed away last week. Don't know any details but appears to be true.

Rest in the peace water brother. I know that you could not seem to find it here on earth.

Wow, that hit me hard when I read it......I still would think of solo from time to time even though he hasnt posted in a long time. I would even talk to my wife about his posts sometimes.

At first he drove me crazy on here, but I learned to respect him for who he was, a true surfer. He loved surfing and the ocean.....he is surfing that perfect uncrowded wave in the sky now,

Bud, I stopped by the board yesterday after I caught the same word. I was looking for an update from one of the crew or even stick. I was optimistic when i didn't find any mention of the situation on this BB. Figured it had a better chance of surfacing here since you are all in hawaii.

I left a message into a mutual friend to find out the reality. I'm still in shock over the knews and I'm definitely in Denial. If I do have to come to grips with real confirmation, I'll be even more saddened than I already am. This is a guy that opened his view of the islands and his personal quiver to me when I visited. He went above and beyond to make sure I had a pleasant time while visiting Hawaii for the first time. He will always be associated with my perception of the aloha spirit and how I can pass the same feeling along to others. RIP

Yes he struggled with his demons but he was good people.

I was stoked to surf with him out at uncrowded Bowls just a few weeks ago. He said he was going to start posting here again....

very sad news. a very unique and intense person with a passion for embracing the things that torment you. at least he was real and told you the truth about the state of things. it can be said that you definitly knew right where you stood with solo. RIP...hope it's not flat wherever the spirit goes.

That's cool to have shared a session at one of his fav breaks, especially uncrowded.

I think JB had some shots of him at bowls one day. back in '05 if I remember correctly.

that just sucks.

Catch this incoming swell for him.

I'm sure he'd appreciate it.
