NYC Noreaster shots

Postby LGREANZ » Fri Apr 16, 2004 5:30 pm

MONSTER SWELL HITS NYC AND DENIES ALL SURFERS ATTEMPTING TO PADDLE OUT.

LOOKS TO ME THAT THESES WAVES ARE AT LEAST 20 FFV.

PHOTOS LOOK TO BE TAKEN FROM THE BOARDWALK WHICH IS ABOUT 15 TO 10 FEET ELEVATED FROM THE SAND, AND PROLLY 250 YARDS FROM THE PEAK.

MY FIRENDS AND FAMILY SAID IT THE BIGGEST THEY'VE EVER SEEN IT.

Holy Shite that's a lotta water movin'! As a younger man in Rhode Island 3 friends and I tried to paddle out on a swell like that...I was heavily denied and my 3 friends had to be rescued by lifeguards.  Aah..youth and it's folly.

Looks like some solid freezing cold head high surf. These guys need to lose the longboards though!

LLOOKS TOUGH AND MORE OF AN ADRENALINE RUSH THAN A FUN SURF.
PROBABLY CATCHCA WAVE OR TWO IF YOUR LUCKY.

I guess. Maybe if somebody with balls enough to paddle out w/out a longboard they could get into these peaks.

I learned to surf (again, after a looong lay-off) right there at Rockaway Beach. Your pictures almost made me miss it. When I lived there, I'd have been scared out of my mind on a swell like that. Now, I look at those lefts and just salivate...

Too bad those swells are usually three or four months apart.

LG,

Awesome photos. Looks very cold though. If some of those guys made it out, how long before the temp forces you in? Just wondering. Lucky us live Hawaii.
