I would say that everyone of those guys is better than Jerry (Gerry?), BUT...Lopez...(that's who we're talking about I hope...) he will always be the king of Pipe IMHO. He did it first and he did it best. He inspired so many people in his approach to riding. His classic Pipeline posters adorned many walls. I've still got one up in my shop. The whole Pipe crew of that period.... They were like rockstars to me.
I wonder if kids today look at Jamie or any of the Pipeline specialists with that same sort of awe and reverance that we had for Lopez.

i think so. but i think Jaime learned his backside technique from watching Kelly Slater and Shane Dorian when he was a kid on the beach
and just ran away with it.
but its still backside and harder than anything in surfing, too me at least.
i cant even comprehend it really, maybe he just knows what waves are gonna not kill him and its all an illusion.
